Agent Release Process: Beta + General Availability
At Automox, we strive for transparency and reliability in our release processes. This document provides a high-level overview of what happens once an agent version is ready for Beta testing and how we manage its rollout through General Availability (GA).
Beta Release Process
Once we have an agent version ready for Beta, we begin a monitoring and feedback phase that typically lasts up to one week. During this period:
- We closely monitor performance and behavior of the agent across a sample set of devices that have opted into our beta program.
- We actively collect and assess customer feedback to identify any potential issues.
- The goal of this period is to ensure stability, performance, and compatibility before a wider roll-out.
Once an agent reaches Beta, we aim to keep the feature set stable through GA. While we may address critical issues, non-blocking bugs or enhancements identified during Beta may not be fixed before GA. These will be evaluated and potentially addressed in future agent updates.
How to Opt In to Beta
Customers who wish to participate in Beta testing and gain early access to upcoming agent versions can configure their agent settings accordingly. Instructions on how to manage agent configurations, including opting into Beta releases, can be found in our documentation here: Managing Agent Configurations
General Availability (GA) Process
Following a successful Beta period, the agent moves into General Availability. This stage involves a controlled roll-out to all customers. Rather than upgrading all devices at once, we use a staggered deployment strategy:
- The GA window is a span of time during which devices are upgraded in batches.
- The start date of the GA window represents the earliest date the agent may begin rolling out.
- Devices will be upgraded at various times throughout the GA window, allowing us to monitor performance and ensure a stable deployment across environments.
This phased approach helps us maintain the highest quality and reliability for your systems while reducing the potential impact of unforeseen issues.
While this document outlines our standard agent release process, Automox reserves the right to modify this process as needed, including accelerated releases or targeted hot-fix deployments in response to critical issues or escalations. These exceptions are made in the interest of maintaining security, stability, and customer trust.
